Instagram Reels Launched Globally

In a bid to fill the need of TikTok in India, Instagram today has rolled out a dedicated section for its newly introduced Short Video feature Reels. The Facebook led Instagram has replaced the Explore Tab (that it was introduced in 2012) with its newly introduced Short Video Feature Reels. Globally, India receives this new change at first.

Now, although Instagram has replaced the explore tab with Reels, one can access it from the top right corner of Instagram’s home page by clicking on the lens icon. Also, Instagram recently has introduced a similar feature like Expore tab right on the Instagram Feed called the Suggested Posts Feature.

Coming to Reels, it is a feature that let the user to create and access 15 Sec Short Videos on Instagram similar to the recently gone TikTok. Since, last month Instagram tests a dedicated tab for Reels. Until now, Reels was accessed within the Search Tab itself.

Earlier this month we started testing a new tab on Instagram to make it easier to discover entertaining Reels.

Clicking on the newly added dedicated tab or section for Reels leads us to a feed where only 15 sec videos are present. We could swipe up and down to navigate from one video to another.

Today we are launching a separate tab for Reels in India given the momentum we are seeing in the country.
