In a letter published on Google Blog recently, YouTube’s new CEO, Neal Mohan said that YouTube will soon introduce Generative AI Tools for Creators.
Let me first tell you about Neal, well, he has recently been appointed the new CEO of Google’s video division YouTube.
Before Neal, Susan Wojcicki was handling the same position for the past nine years.
Who is Neal Mohan?
For those of you who don’t know, Neal Mohan is an Indian American. He was born in Lucknow, India, and grew up in Michigan, US. He has an undergraduate in Electric Engineering from Stanford University and also Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Science from Stanford University.
He started his professional career at Accenture in 1996 and then joined a startup called NetGravity which was later acquired by an online firm called DoubleClick.
Neal joined Google in 2008 as a senior advertising and product executive. He played a key role in advancing Adwords, Google Adsense, and Doubleclick. In 2015, he was appointed as YouTube’s Chief Product Officer where he brings YouTube Shorts, YouTube Music, Subscription Offerings, and more.
AI will Reinvent YouTube Videos
On February 16, 2023, Neal Mohan was appointed as the CEO of YouTube.
Now, detailing YouTube’s 2023 priorities, Neal said, AI will reinvent video and make impossible tasks possible.
Well, what does it mean?
Neal said he wants to make the platform creator community first so that they make the platform reach new heights in coming times.
And, to make the platform more helpful for creators, YouTube will soon introduce Generative AI tools.
What is Generative AI?
Well, Generative AI is an Artificial Intelligence category that uses algorithms to generate new outputs using the data they have trained on.
Unlike Traditional AI that recognizes patterns and makes predictions, Generative AI creates new content in the form of Video, Image, Text, etc.
ChatGPT is a popular product example of Generative AI. It generates text outputs based on the data it has been trained on.
How does Generative AI going to help YouTube Creators?
Right now, we don’t have precise information on the different generative AI tools that YouTube is planning to introduce in its platform. However, Neal has said that the AI tools will help creators in expanding their storytelling and production value. They will be able to easily create a fantastic film setting. They can virtually swap outfits. Creators can easily add special effects to their videos using programs like OpenAI’s DALL-E-2.
Conclusion
Many experts believe, 2023 is going to be the year of AI. Take an example of the Generative Text AI product “ChatGPT” which reached one million users in just one week and now has reached the browser of over 100 million users. This shows that users like to interact with AI technology.
So, if YouTube rolls out more and more AI tools for creators and viewers to make their life on YouTube more easy and more interesting, I believe, YouTube will continue to acquire the position of the most popular video platform on the web for more decades to come.
