google play store adds upi as a new payment method

Google Play Store is a great marketplace for both the Android Users and the developers. Here, users able to access a variety of content that ranges from Apps, Movies, Music, TV Shows and more. Although most of these contents are freely available, however, there are some of those for which you have to pay to use. For example, Some apps are truly premium that means to use the app, you have to purchase it. On the other side some apps are free however, you have to purchase their in-app content. A Similar explanation is also for Movies and TV Shows.

Now, to purchase anything from Google Play Store, we do require a medium through which we can do payment or accept payment. Well, till now, Google Play Store have different payment mediums like Credit/Debit Card, Internet Banking, Gift card and other. However, Today, Google announce that they are adding Unified Payment Interface also as a payment medium in Google Play Store.

Yes, you heard it right, Google has rolled out the integration of UPI as a payment method in Google Play Store. So, now you can pay and accept using some popular UPI payment apps in India like Google Pay, Phone Pe, PayTm and BHIM. All you have to do is linking your 12 Digit UPI ID in Google Play Store Billing section. You can reach Google Play Store billing section by opening Google Play App then tapping on the hamburger menu at the top left corner. There you find Payment Methods. Tapping on the Payment method exposes the different payment method available on Google Play Store.

At the time of writing this article, I didn’t find UPI as the payment method available but in a blog post today Google assures it is coming in next few weeks.

UPI comes in India in year 2017 and from then on user like this service very much. As per the same Google Blog post report, In August 2019 itself UPI generates around 918 million transaction. So, you can see, that is the reason behind adding UPI as a payment method in Google Play Store.
