After 5 years of its launch, Hotstar finally brings Dolby 5.1 surround sound, when Disney Plus launches in India via Hotstar. Well, Dolby 5.1 is now on Disney Plus Hotstar but right now limited only to The Madalorian. That means right now, you won’t able to listen other shows available on Disney Plus Hotstar in Dolby 5.1. I think today Disney Plus Hotstar right now is rolling out this sound technology and in coming days it is going to be available only for Disney Plus content (I think so).
Today, A twitter user ask Disney Plus Hotstar support that he is seeing Dolby 5.1 in The Madalorian but not on other shows why? In reply, Disney team said, Yes, You can enjoy The Mandalorian with 5.1 sound on our latest apps on Fire TV, Android TV and Apple TV and we will be bringing 5.1 sound to more content soon.
Disney Plus also have to improve the Audio Bitrate
In the comment another asked Disney to bring every content in Regional languages like Hindi, Marathi, Kannada, Tamil and Telugu in 640 Kbps Audio Bitrate. The Mandalorian is in 5.1 but have 192 Kbps of Audio Bitrate. Comparing it with Netflix and Amazon they both provide content in Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound with 640 Kbps of Audio Bitrate.
