By the following Scenario, we are describing what is the use of whatsapp two step verification. Consider a Scenario, Someone tries to register a WhatsApp account by giving your phone number to the application. Now Several Possibilities are here:
- You are not in Whatsapp with your number: In this case, if someone tries to register in WhatsApp with your number they need to access an OTP which is only SMS to your number. This case is irrelevant you didn’t create a WhatsApp account initially.
- You are registered in Whatsapp with your number but do not enable the Two step verification: In this case, if someone tries to register in WhatsApp with your number they need to access an OTP which is only sent to your number. This case is relevant because You created a Whatsapp account earlier and you have some contacts in it. Suppose they get OTP in any way, then obviously they can install Whatsapp but they can not access your contacts. For them, they should have a backup of your Whatsapp. On the other side, your contacts do not know that someone else has installed WhatsApp from your number. And they can message you anything and here you compromises your data. To prevent this from happening we enable the two step verification. This means that, if someone installs WhatsApp from your number then it is compulsory for them to have a 6 digit code. But that 6 digit code is given to you if you enable whatsapp two step verification.

How to enable whatsapp two step verification?
Step 1: First of all you have to open your Whatsapp and go to settings.
Step 2: Then you have to go to account.
Step 3: There you find Two-step verification. You have to open it.
Step 4: Then you have to enable the two step verification. After enabling the two step verification you get a message in which the 6 digit two step verification code is present.
