In a bid to give its user the option to read the lyrics of a song in realtime in the same language, the song has been sung, Spotify Launches Live Lyrics feature in India and 25 other countries. In Spotify, this feature became possible with the company’s collaboration with Musixmatch, an Italian Music data company with more than 14 million lyrics available.
Spotify Collaboration with Musixmatch
Well, this is not the first time Spotify collaborates with Musixmatch for lyrics support in the app. Before 2016, it was the Musixmatch that provides lyrics support in the app. However, in 2016, Spotify collaborates with Genius (other lyrics providing company), which doesn’t even offer the full lyrics support in the app. In 2018, Genius partnered with Apple to provide them the full lyrics for their Apple Music app. Later, Genius made Apple Music its exclusive web player.
Now, Spotify again bends its Knee in front of its old partner to bring a brand new realtime lyrics feature in the app. Finally, the feature is now available in 26 out of Spotify’s 79 markets worldwide. Now, although Spotify live lyrics feature is available in 26 markets worldwide, Spotify in Japan already has a lyrics feature via a different lyrics provider.
