One of the India’s Oldest Music Label, Saregama today filed a copyright infringement case against Spotify in Delhi High Court. Those of you who don’t know Spotify is an online music streaming service whose headquarter is located in Sweden. Also, It comes at the first place globally, if you make a list of best Music streaming app.
Back on February 26, 2019, Spotify made its debut in India. However, A Month before rolling out in India, the company meet Saregama and ask for the license of 1,20,000 songs. That time Saregama allows Spotify to roll out its music catalogue on their Platform but not finalize the deal. Now, Saregama ask Spotify to remove his 1,20,000 from their App Server.
Regarding this Saregama files a Copyright Infringement Case on Delhi High Court today. After hearing arguments from both parties, Delhi High Court decided to further hear the case on May 7, 2019.
Not Just with Saregama, Spotify is in legal battle with Warner Chappell Music company more or like in the same case. This case is currently underway in the Mumbai High Court.
