RBI Launches MANI App for Visually Impaired Persons

This Wednesday, RBI launches a brand new app for visually impaired persons. The app is named MANI in short; however, in full, it is called Mobile Aided Note Identifier. As its name suggests, the app helps anyone to identify an Indian Banknote, however, RBI launches it, especially for Visually Impaired Persons.

MANI App can identify the denominated old series of Mahatma Gandhi notes (i.e., Rs. 1000 and Rs. 500 note) as well as also able to identify the new series of Mahatma Gandhi note.

We all know, The new series of Mahatma Gandhi notes contains almost all Indian banknotes.

Till now, there isn’t any digital way present to identify Indian banknotes, especially for the Visually impaired. They recognize the notes on their own as Indian Banknotes are itself capable of being identified uniquely. For example, One can identify Indian banknotes based on its size, intaglio printing, different patterns present on it, and so on.

RBI says the app helps visually impaired to get notified about a note via vibration or audio in English or Hindi. Also, one can control the app via voice commands, and after the installation, it doesn’t require an Internet connection. It works in offline mode.

MANI app is available on both the App Store and the MANI app is available on both the App Store and the Google Playstore. However, for iOS, it comes in two versions.
