Chinese Smartphone maker company OnePlus has now become the number 1 premium smartphone (handsets worth above Rs. 30000) brand for the year 2019 in India. As per a report by Counterpoint Research, The brand holds 33% of market share in the Indian Premium Smartphone segment outranking Samsung and Apple who holds 26 and 25 percent market share in the same segment last year.

In a forum post, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau revealed OnePlus now became the first-ever premium smartphone brand surpassing 2 million shipments in a year in India. He also revealed, OnePlus 7 series device holds the number one position for the premium smartphone brand of 2019.

Last year, India witnessed the highest shipment of premium smartphones outranking the US to become the second-largest smartphone market in the world after China.

Talking about the actual number, India ships 158 million smartphones last year, on the other hand, US ships 153 million smartphones last year.

Now, because India proves to be a growing market for OnePlus, the company CEO, Pete Lau, plans to expand the number of OnePlus stores in India from 30-100 by the end of this year. However, for now, the company has marked its presence through 2000 retails partners in India.

Taking about the market share of smartphones ranging in the budget segment in India, here also Chinese brands are flagging their name. BBK electronics who owned Vivo, Realme, and OPPO hold 35% of market share combined in Budget Smartphone Segment in India. Xiaomi holds 28% of market share, and lastly, Samsung holds 21% of market share in the Budget Smartphone segment in India.
