This new feature currently rolls out globally. The image format that is currently tested under this feature is JPG, JPEG, PNG, GIF, TIFF. However, this new feature is only available for Premium, Business and Enterprise accounts.

According to Dropbox, there are more than 20 billion images stored on its server. However, An individual finds it difficult to search an image manually. Therefore, the team tries to develop some feature which can do character recognition automatically. Now, they are successfully bringing this feature that is dependent on OCR technology. OCR stands for Optical Character Recognition.

Bringing the power of machine intelligence, a user can easily search for a text or keyword present inside a photo or a PDF file. This new text recognition feature does not work only to the new documents you add after rolling out this feature but it also works on the old documents too.
