Alt Balaji has crossed 20 Million Paid Subscribers

Indian On-Demand Video streaming service AltBalaji that is owned by Balaji Telefilms has crossed 20 million paid subscribers in the first quarter of 2019. Moreover, we believe the platform would cross 25 million paid subscribers by the end of next quarter.

A report from Counterpoint research says, out of these 20 million users 55% are those who come from metropolitan area whereas 36% are those who belongs to Tier 1 cities.

AltBalaji able to grab such a large base of users in presence of giant On-Demand video streaming services like Disney’s Hotstar, Netflix, and Amazon Prime which is quite an astonishing work.

Well, another reason that helps AltBalaji to generate such large volume of users is its subscription charge which I think is quite low when you compare to other video streaming services in India. At the time of writing this article, I found that AltBalaji is taking Rs 100 and Rs 300 for its 3 months and 1 year subscription charge. So, you can see it is quite low in compare to either hotstar, netflix or amazon prime.

I know you might argue about the content but AltBalaji is more focusing on regional content in compare to other on-demand video streaming services in India. This might also be the reason why people opt to subscribe for it.

In India, Right now around 30 on-demand video streaming services are available and with such a large paid user base, AltBalaji able to grab a place in top positions.

Launched in 2017, this on-demand video streaming service gives us several popular shows like Gandi Baat, Kehne ko Humsafar Hai, Romil and Jugal and many more.

Well, right now, I’m happy to know that, In India, global big platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime not able to push Indian Video streaming services so far, and the credit goes to the native content. That means other platforms also have to create more native Indian shows in order to succeed in an outstanding way in India.
