In a bid to completely end the privacy and security concern over the popular Indian COVID-19 tracking app, The Indian Government has Open-Sourced the Aarogya Setu App. Now, anyone interested to raise an issue or contribute to the source code of the app can do so via GIT where the source code of the app is now publicly available.
Also Initiated a Bug Bounty Program for the App
In addition to make the source code of the app publicly available on GIT, the Indian Government has also initated a Bug Bounty Program to award those who spot any vulnerability in the app. MyGov Team takes care of this Bug Bounty Program that is going to start from May 27 i.e. today till June 26, that means existing for a whole month. Participants who able to spot any vulnerability will awarded with Rs. 1 Lakh per vulnerability upto a maximum of Rs. 3 Lakh per participant.
Niti Aayog CEO, Amitabh Kant said, No any Government so far have Open-Sourced their own made product and I am proud to say India is leading in the league.
Only the Android Version of the Aarogya Setu App has been Open Sourced for now
Coming to the source code of the App, Right now, only the Android version has been Open Sourced last night and soon the iOS version will also be Open-Sourced. Beside Android and iOS, The Aarogya Setu app also have a KaiOS version for JioPhone about which we haven’t heard any info so far.
