The ecommerce giant Amazon has announced its online Food Delivery service Amazon food in India. The service allows customers to order prepared meals from Amazon which in turn is provided by the hand-picked local restaurants and cloud kitches who have passed the high hygiene certification bar. Right now, the service is available in Bengaluru, India in select pin codes that are Bellandur, Haralur, Marathahalli, and Whitefield.

An Amazon spokesperson said, Around 100 restaurants and kitchens are currently involved in Amazon Food service trial and if everything is auspicious, Amazon will extend this service to other parts of the country as well.

Talking about online food delivery service in India, two big players are already providing the same service. However, both these big players are losing millions of dollars every month. Talking about Zomato, just recently in January, Zomato bought Uber eats. In addition, both Swiggy and Zomato have raised $2 billion of funds for themselves. However, the two companies are currently losing $15 million every month. Now it is interesting to see if Amazon Food will be able to leave behind these two big players or will it be similar to both of them.
