How FASTag Device works?
When a FASTag enabled car enters the toll plaza, a special lane will be built for them. The FASTag device will be enabled as soon as the user’s car enter in that lane.On toll Plaza, the FASTag device is read by a reader which we call as the Tag reader. As soon as the tag reader reads the FASTag, the toll amount automatically deducted from the user’s account. It takes only 1 to 2 seconds to read the FASTag device by the tag reader. So its benefit is that the user does not have to wait to pay the toll amount at the toll plaza. With this, both his time and fuel are saved. After filling the toll amount, the user will get an e-receipt in the form of a message on their phone. The user will get this message on his registered mobile number.
Benefits of FASTag
- With the FASTag there is no need to carry cash during the toll transaction.
- The whole process is also eco-friendly since there isn’t any paper wastage.
- Despite all of this, the customer can get access to all their FASTag transactions by logging onto the FASTag customer portal.
Once purchased FASTag, it will be valid for five years and customers can recharge it according to their needs. Customers will be able to recharge FASTags through credit/debit / NEFT/RTGS or Net banking. Consumers can recharge this device for an amount of at least 100 and up to Rs 1 lakh.
The government has taken this decision under its electronic toll collection scheme. In the future, there will be at least one lane for the vehicles with FASTag on all the 370 toll plazas located across the country. Slowly this facility will be given in all lanes.
