Facebook Spectrum Compress Photos 15 Percent Smaller. In our day to day life we all encounter with high resolution photos. For example, we click photos with our DSLR or some high megapixel Smartphone cameras. However, its use will limit when we aren’t able to upload it on Internet. Moreover, if we able to upload it we aren’t able to see it in a time limit. Therefore, Facebook today disclose about the tech which they uses in their platform to compress photos.

It’s called Spectrum. Although Facebook made this technology source code public but you can use it on your IOS or Android App projects.

The source code is available on GITHUB. Facebook defines Spectrum as a cross platform image trans-coding library. You can integrate it on your Android or iOS project. It perform different image operations like disabling chroma sub-sampling, cropping, resizing and Transcoding.

The core part of spectrum is written in C++ however, Facebook also made available the Java and Objective C API for easier access.
