Google Invests Rs. 33,737 crore in Reliance Jio

The most prominent announcement is Google is going to invest Rs. 33,737 crore in Reliance Jio in exchange for 7.7% of the company’s stake. This new partnership between Google and Reliance falls under Google for India Digitalisation fund. Those of you who don’t know, Google recently has announced Rs. 75,000 crore investment in India to accelerate the country’s economy. This investment is going to complete in the next five to seven-year. Under this investment, Google is going to build products relevant to India. Under this partnership, Google is going to develop an Android-based operating system and an entry-level Android smartphone that has Google Playstore. Jio to roll out 5G network trials in India

At the company’s 43rd Annual General Meeting, the chairman and the managing director of the company, Mr. Mukesh Ambani, said Jio is all set to deploy 5G network trials in India as soon as the government allocates spectrum to the carriers. It is said that the entire Jio’s 5G network stack is made by Jio employees that is a significant achievement for the company. Jio Glass Mixed Reality Headset

At the meeting, the company has also unveiled its first-ever made Mixed Reality headset called Jio Glass via a showcase demo. The demo explains how the Jio Glass works, and you can watch the same demo in the video attached below.

Jio glass will revolutionize the classroom teaching in India as the company claims it will enable 3D virtual rooms and holographic classes in real-time via the Jio Mixed reality cloud. Jio Glass weighs just 75 grams and has a personalized audio system and high-resolution display. A user can connect this high-resolution display via a cable to the supported device. It is said that the Glass supports 25 apps, but the app list count can grow in the future. The price and the availability of Jio Glass have not been revealed in the meeting and is expected to be announced in the coming days.

Jio TV+

Jio TV+ is a content curation platform that sports content from 12 global OTT apps. These 12 OTT apps are Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar, Zee5, Voot, Sony LIV, Lionsgate Play, JioCinema, JioSaavn, Shemaroo, YouTube, and Eros Now. Jio TV+ is going to be available for all the Jio Set-Top box users. Besides these 12 OTT apps, Jio TV+ will also offer Live TV channels with Interactive user features like one can vote for a poll on a live reality contest, debate on news channels, and so on. However, for now, its pricing and availability have not been revealed yet.
