Back in June this year we told you Disney Plus Hotstar testing 4K HDR support in select devices. Now, it has been reportedly said Disney Plus Hotstar has begun rolling out 4K HDR on Android and Apple TV. But again, supporting 4K HDR doesn’t mean you can watch all contents available on the platform in the same resolution. The content itself has to be available in 4K HDR to watch it in the same resolution. On Disney Plus Hotstar, select contents are available in 4K HDR resolution and that includes titles like Star Wars the Mandalorian, Togo and more.
How to find 4K HDR content on Disney Plus Hotstar?
You can spot a content available in 4K or HDR or both by finding an icon displaying the same below the title description. For example, for now Togo is showing available both in 4K and HDR but the Mandalorian is displaying only the 4K icon. Now, although select contents are available in 4K HDR right now, the list is expected to grow over time.
Features Disney Plus Hotstar is looking to Add
Beside 4K HDR resolution, one more thing user demanding on Disney Plus Hotstar is the broader support of Surround Sound that is available on hundreds of titles (falls to Disney Plus Originals) but restricted to TV.
So, things Disney Plus Hotstar have in mind to include are 4K HDR support to more devices like Fire TV and other Smart TVs, HDR support in Android and iOS, Dolby Vision and so on. At the time of writing this article, the only HDR format the platforms supports is HDR10.
