Social Media Giant Facebook is trying to get into the hardware industry since it’s first hardware device Portal then later the company launched it’s virtual reality headset Oculus that is now part of Facebook Reality Lab. Now, the world’s biggest social media company is going to launch it’s own made Smartwatch. The Information has recently published an article claiming, Facebook is planning to launch its own Smartwatch next year.
Of course the name of the device is not decided yet and for now we don’t know whether the device will run on Google Wear OS or not, earlier we seen some sources, Facebook is developing it’s own operating system. May be the upcoming Facebook Smartwatch runs on the Facebook owned Operating system too, who knows.
The Information report also explains, the Facebook Smartwatch may synchronize with other services owned by the company, for example WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram to let user easily send and receive messages. The smartwatch will be preloaded with the health and fitness features and will have the cellular connectivity. The same report also explains Facebook Smartwatch will go on sale next year.
Last year, the Vice President of Facebook’s Reality Lab, Hugo Barra revealed Facebook’s partnership with Ray Ban to build a Smartglass that is said to be releasing this year.
So, till the end of next year, as of now we are definitely going to see two hardware devices from Facebook – Facebook’s Smartglass and Facebook Smartwatch. Also do let me tell you that, both of these products are part of Facebook’s Project Aria.
