This Tuesday Disney CEO Bob Iger has made Disney Plus India launch date public. He announced, Disney Plus is going to launch in India on March 29 this year, the same day when Indian Premier league going to kick in India. He also revealed Disney Plus is coming to India via Hotstar by rebranding its name to Disney Plus Hotstar aka Disney+ Hotstar.
I think many of you know that Hotstar is a subsidiary of Star India which in turn acquired by Disney. Now, because Hotstar already have a significant number of users in India, that is more than around 400 Billion, We think its a very good move to launch Disney plus by integrating it into the Hotstar not launching it as a separate service.
What about Disney Plus Subscription cost in India?
Coming to the price of the service, Bob said, right now we haven’t decided about the pricing but we plan to launch it in two subscription pack. The first one packaging the entire library and is more premium in compare to the second one. In my opinion, Right now, you can think of the two subscription pack as Hotstar Premium and Hotstar VIP. Also, we think the price of upcoming Disney Plus subscription pack in India is going to be more or less same as Hotstar Premium and VIP subscription cost.
Before India the same month on March 24, Disney Plus service is also launching on different countries like UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Ireland, and Austria. Currently, Disney plus is available only in 5 countries named US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Netherlands.
So, How many of you are eager to enjoy Disney Plus in India
