TRAI Channel sector application is now publicly available. Back in December last year, TRAI releases a new rule which fixes the Network Capacity fee for Cable and DTH providers. According to that rule every user who wants to avail the cable or DTH services have to pay Rs 130 as the Network Capacity fee. Moreover, Under this fee your Cable or DTH provider gives you 100 Free to Air Channels. Now, you are free to choose these 100 Free to Air Channels from a total of 534 available, as TRAI confirms.

However, there are some consumers who wants to add some more free to air channels in their subscription pack. So, TRAI gives them an option of paying Rs 20 extra per 25 channels to add with 100 and so on.

Now, There are two category of channels Free to Air Channels and Paid Channels. We are complete with the Free to Air channels part. Let’s talk about the Paid ones.

Selecting a list of Paid channels to include in your subscription pack is quite a headache. Especially, if you don’t know the complete channels list. Therefore, to reduce this headache TRAI releases a Channel Selector Application. This application ease the task of selecting a list of channels to add in your monthly subscription pack.

You can think of this application like any other eCommerce Platform that contains the cart facility. See here also you add products (here channels) in the cart and you get the total monthly subscription bill.

The application has a total of 5 phases where they ask you your name, State, Channel language, Channel Genres, Type (SD or HD). That’s it you prompt with a list of channels from which you can choose to.
