Soon you can Switch DTH Provider without Changing STB. TRAI looks forward to roll out this facility soon. Right now, if you want to change your DTH connection to some new DTH provider, you have to change your Set top box too. According to TRAI chairman R.S Sharma soon we establish inter-connectivity between different DTH providers.
Right now, we don’t know the exact date of when this new rule will roll out, but we do know it complete after 2019 end. Users on the other hand when want to swtich between DTH providers, they only have to install the new software native to their DTH provider.
However, DTH providers says that this new system may weaken the security of STB. They defend this new system presented by TRAI. They say this new system may break their encryption and make their content at risk.
Of course this when this system roll out it brings headache to DTH providers. You can see how number portability system in telecom industry make it difficult for a telecom company to reserve its customer.
Let see whether this new system will roll out this year or not. As you can see there are several challenges to face. Like making a post load software which can easily install on different DTH provider hardware and so on.
