Google Play Games App Windows

Ever since Microsoft announced the support of Android Apps in Windows 11 after partnering with Amazon, users were curious to know whether they will be able to enjoy Google Play games on Windows? Of course, I am talking about using them without any third-party app.

Well, it seems like, the answer to the above question is somewhat transparent now. Google’s product director of games on Android and Google Play, Greg Hartrell has said to The Verge, “Starting in 2022, players will be able to experience their favorite Google Play games on more devices: seamlessly switching between a phone, tablet, Chromebook, and soon, Windows PCs”.

The above statement clearly informs us of two things:

  1. Users will soon be able to play Google Play Games on Windows PCs.
  2. They can seamlessly switch between different devices. That means, if a user is at a certain level in a game then can resume the game from the same level on a different device.

Now, you might be thinking, how Google is going to achieve the same.

Well, Google is building an exclusive Google Play Games app that users can install on their Windows PC (that could either be a laptop or tablet), to play Google Play Games.

Alex Garcia (Google Spokesperson) said to The Verge that, the company has built the Google Play Games app on its own. The app will be a native Windows app that will run locally on Windows 10 and upper versions.

Looking at the popularity of the Windows operating system, both technology giants Microsoft and Windows are competing with each other to bring Android apps running natively on Windows. Microsoft recently has partnered with Amazon to bring Amazon App Store’s apps to Windows. Google seems to take more control over its Google Play apps. That’s why building a separate app Google Play Games for Windows.
