Team YouTube recently posted a thread in one of the YouTube community page revealing they are going to launch YouTube Kids Web later this week. Well, they haven’t revealed the exact launch date. However, says they update the thread once the site goes live on the web.
In addition to that, the YouTube team has also brought a new update in the YouTube Kids app. With this update, parents now able to select in between three age groups to fetch the appropriate contents for their kids.
YouTube Kids Age Groups Feature
You know that content for a 10-year-old may not be appropriate for a 5-year-old. Therefore, the YouTube team has brought Age Groups.
Parents now able to select between three age groups called Preschool, Younger and Older. As the name suggests, preschool is appropriate for those who are 4 years old. Preschool age groups mainly contain contents specific to creativity, playfulness, learning, and Exploration. Similarily, Younger age group contents (that includes songs, cartoons, and Crafts) are appropiate for 5 to 7 year old. Last but not the least Old Age Group content is perfect for 8 to 12 year old. This group mainly contain contents specific to music videos, gaming, science, and more.
It doesn’t matter how much YouTube work to make sure the content they are showing falls in the appropriate category. So, some time is may happen you see inappropriate content. In that case, YouTube has given an option to flag such content.
To make sure you won’t see any inappropriate content, make sure to choose approved content only. That also restrict your child to search for a video in the app.
