Dish TV Removes additional Network Capacity fee for Free to Air channels. If you have already read our this post, you know that TRAI charge the Network capacity fee of Rs. 153.40 for 100 SD channels. In these 100 SD channels you can subscribe for both FTA channels as well as Paid channels. However, if you want to subscribe for more than 100 SD channels (either free or paid or in combination), you have to pay additional Rs. 20 Network capacity fee per 25 channels.

Now, Dish TV introduces a new rule in their charging scheme. Under this new rule, a customer won’t have to pay additional NCF if subscribe more than 100 free FTA channels. However, Dish TV limits the maximum number of FTA channels a user can subscribe by paying Rs. 153.40 as NCF. This limit is 189.

Dish TV customers can avail this new scheme under Dish TV Mera Apna Pack. While Check out under Mera Apna Pack (like in the screenshot below), users now see a new option which says Choose FTA without extra cost.

In this new option Dish TV provides 5 BST packs that collects a group of FTA channels. These 5 BST packs are as follows:

  • North (having 189 channels)
  • Hindi (having 99 channels)
  • Marathi Gujarati (having 84 channels)
  • Bangla Odia (having 83 channels)
  • DD Pack (having 25 channels)

Although, Tata Sky and Sun Direct were the first one who introduces this scheme. On one side where Sun Direct users can subscribe for unlimited FTA channels by paying the same NCF i.e. Rs. 153.40. However, on other side Tata Sky revoke additional NCF for selected FTA channels.
